Text and fonts
Names and phrases are the most common orders. In Meus Bordados you type the text, choose the font and the software builds the satin stitch following each letter’s stroke.
Type a text
- In the toolbar, choose Text.
- Click the drawing area where the text should start.
- In the right panel, on the Special tab, type in the Text box. Press Enter for a new line.
- To change the text later, select the object with Select and edit the Text box.
Choose the font
- With the text selected, click the font button (it shows "Ag" and the current font’s name).
- In the Fonts window, choose where the font comes from: From server… (the Meus Bordados library), Computer fonts… (the ones installed on your computer) or TTF/OTF file… (a font file you have).
- Use Search font… to find it by name and click the font you want.
Tip: Computer fonts… only works in Chrome and Edge, and the browser asks for permission the first time. In other browsers, load the TTF or OTF file.
Size and spacing
- Height: letter height in millimeters (3 to 200 mm).
- Width: stretches or narrows the letters, as a percentage (100% is normal).
- Spacing → Letter: extra space between letters, in millimeters. Use a negative value to bring them closer.
Stitch type for text
On the Fills tab, under Stitch type, choose Satin (by stroke) (the default, ideal for names), Tatami (for large, thick letters) or Running-stitch outline (outline only). See Stitch types and settings.
Insert symbols and ornaments
Click Insert symbol… to see every character in the font, including ornaments, ligatures and special symbols. Filter by Special ones only or Letters and numbers only and click a symbol to add it to the text.
Library fonts in the dashboard
The Fonts menu in the dashboard lists the library, filters by category and lets you Download the font file. You don’t need to download to use it in the editor: use From server… in the fonts window.
Tips
- Letters under 5 mm tall are hard to stitch in satin. For very small text, choose simple, bold fonts.
- The preview in the panel shows the font at screen size; the embroidery uses the font’s real outlines. Always check zoomed in and with Simulate.
Common problems
It says "The design uses the font X, which isn’t loaded".
The design was made with a computer or file font that this browser hasn’t read yet. Load the font again via Computer fonts… or TTF/OTF file…. If the font isn’t on this computer, install it or use a server font.
Computer fonts… lists nothing.
The browser didn’t grant access (permission denied) or it isn’t Chrome/Edge. Allow access when the browser asks, or load the font file with TTF/OTF file….
An ornament from the font doesn’t show up in Insert symbol.
Some ornaments only appear through the font’s automatic ligatures and have no code of their own, so they aren’t listed.
