Embroidery editor

Turn an image into embroidery

You can use an image (a logo, for example) in two ways: as a background to trace over, or to have the editor create the embroidery objects for you.

Add the background image

  1. In the right panel, under Background image, click Upload image… or paste a copied image with Ctrl+V.
  2. Adjust the Transparency, the Width (in mm) and the position (Center X and Center Y).
  3. Uncheck Show the image to hide it without removing it. Remove deletes the image.

Auto-digitizing

  1. With the image loaded, go to Auto-digitizing.
  2. Under Colors, say how many colors the embroidery should have (2 to 16).
  3. Under Ignore regions smaller than, set the minimum size (mm²) to skip specks and noise.
  4. Under Stitches, choose: Tatami, with running-stitch border, Tatami, no border, Satin by stroke, with running-stitch border or Running-stitch outlines only.
  5. Keep Leave the background (color at the image edges) unstitched checked so the background isn’t stitched.
  6. Click Instant digitizing.

The editor creates one object per color region. They appear in the object list and can be edited one by one, like any other.

Tips

  • Simple logos with a few well-separated colors and no gradients give the best results.
  • Use a sharp, large-enough image. Small or blurry images produce wobbly outlines.
  • After auto-digitizing, review: delete regions that are too small, change stitch types and check the stitching order.

Common problems

It says "No regions found".

Increase the number of Colors or lower Ignore regions smaller than and try again.

It says "This isn’t an image the browser can open".

Use PNG, JPG or WebP. Files from design programs (such as AI, CDR or PSD) need to be exported as an image first.
